The Lake Sandoval 2 days 1 night tour brings you deep into the Peruvian Amazon for an immersive jungle adventure. First, we leave from Puerto Maldonado and travel by boat along the Madre de Dios River toward the protected reserve. Then, you’ll hike through rainforest trails and paddle a canoe across the lake’s calm waters — a perfect opportunity to observe giant river otters, black caimans, monkeys, and a wide variety of tropical birds in their natural habitat. Afterward, you’ll spend the night in an eco-lodge surrounded by jungle sounds and serene nature. Finally, at sunrise you’ll witness the awakening of the Amazon before returning home. Thus, this tour offers a rich blend of wildlife, nature, and relaxation — an ideal escape for nature lovers seeking an authentic Amazon experience.
Itinerary:
Day 1:
It involves visiting the Tambopata rainforest. We will travel approximately 40 minutes along the Madre de Dios River to reach our lodging, where we will be in contact with nature and have the opportunity to observe different types of animals.
- We will arrive, settle into our rooms, and take an introductory walk.
- 1:00 pm: We will have lunch.
- 5:00 pm: We will take the boat and search for caimans along the banks of the mighty Madre de Dios River.
- After dinner, we will take a night walk around our lodging to see nocturnal animals.
Day 2:
4:30 am: We will go macaw spotting in palm trees on the way to Lake Sandoval. We will walk approximately 1 hour along trails in search of diurnal animals until we reach the lake, where we will take a small boat ride to search for giant otters.
We will have lunch by the lake, rest for a while, and then return to our lodging before heading back to the city.
